Remote learning day checklist for parents and nannies (free printable)
A good remote school day is mostly set up the night before: devices charged, the timetable read, links found and materials on the table. This checklist covers the night before, the morning, each lesson, breaks and the end of the day, in the order you need it. Print one per child per day, or hand it to your nanny or helper. It works for any school and platform, and it follows the guidance UAE education authorities published for remote learning in 2026.

The night before
- Read tomorrow's timetable for each child, including any changes the school sent today.
- Note where each lesson link appears: the class channel, the learning platform or an email.
- Charge every device and put the charger by the table.
- Check headphones work.
- Print worksheets and set out books and materials for the first lessons.
- Send the plan to your nanny or helper, if she is running the day.
The morning
- Breakfast done before the first lesson.
- Each child at their spot: quiet, good Wi-Fi, a young child within sight of an adult.
- Device on and signed in 10 minutes before the first lesson.
- Platform and app updates done, so nothing restarts mid-lesson.
- Water bottle on the table.
Before each lesson
- Open the right link from the official channel only.
- Camera on if the teacher asks, microphone off until needed.
- Book, worksheet or materials for this lesson ready.
- If the link fails: refresh, restart the app, then take a screenshot and report it during the lesson through the school's channel.
Breaks
- Stand up and move away from the screen.
- Snack and water.
- Toilet before the next lesson.
- Check the next lesson's link and materials.
End of the day
- Homework and tasks submitted on the platform.
- Any message from teachers read.
- Tomorrow's timetable and links checked.
- Devices on charge.
- One line to the parent on how the day went, if the nanny or helper ran it.
Once a week
- Read the school's weekly update or weekly plan.
- Check attendance and homework reports on the platform.
- Raise anything worrying with the class teacher, early.
- Ask your child how it is going, away from the screen.

Every link and timetable ready each morning with Raha
The first item on the list, reading the timetable and finding the links, is the one that takes longest when the school sends updates every day. Hey Raha reads your school emails, read-only, and resurfaces every lesson link and timetable the school sends by email. She spots changes, updates your family plan and tells you on WhatsApp. Your nanny or helper gets her own version with the day's timetable and the links she needs to set up each lesson, without fees or private notes. Try Hey Raha free for 14 days. If school email already feels like too much, our guide to too many school emails has ways to cut it down.
Remote learning checklist FAQ
What should be on a remote learning checklist?
The timetable and links for each lesson, charged devices and headphones, materials for each lesson, signing in 10 minutes early, breaks away from the screen, homework submitted at the end of the day and tomorrow's timetable checked. The printable on this page has all of these in order, with space for a day plan.
How early should my child log in to an online lesson?
About 10 minutes before the first lesson, so a password reset or app update does not make them late. Some UAE public schools counted students as late if they joined more than 10 minutes after the lesson started.
How do I set up a remote learning space at home?
Choose a quiet spot with good Wi-Fi and a table, keep the charger nearby and give older children headphones. KHDA's parent guide suggests keeping young children's devices in shared family spaces rather than bedrooms.
Can my nanny or helper use this checklist?
Yes. It is written so anyone running the day can follow it. Print one per child per day, fill in the timetable the night before, and ask her to tick it off and send you a short update at the end of the day.
How many breaks should children have on a remote school day?
Follow the school's timetable. Abu Dhabi's distance learning rules, as reported by Khaleej Times, include a mid-morning break of at least 20 minutes, and KHDA's parent guide stresses screen-free time. Use each break to move, eat and drink away from the screen.
